puzzles, puzzles, everywhere

seb and i got on a house rearranging kick, trying to find a place to display his giant 12k piece, 9'x4.5' puzzle of Michelangelo's 'Creation of Adam.' (there are literally 2 walls in the entire house this thing will fit on in one piece.) charlie gave it to 'us' as a wedding present.

now, after three and a half years and, miraculously, only one lost piece (which the dog ate,) we think we're just about ready to put it up. yet as that one is still laying in 3 giant glued and taped sections on the guest bed waiting for its debut, this weekend we put some serious hurt on the new puzzle. this one is even bigger (the site claims it's the biggest in the world), at 18k pieces and 2.76x1.92 meters.

thankfully, it's neatly divided into four sections that can stand alone (it's an arrangement of 4 old world maps) that will be easier to find wall space for. and, as the ravensburger people are not sadistic, the entire shebang is divided into 4 bags of pieces by sections, so we can open a bag, finish one 4th of the entirety, hang it, and move on.

the other nice thing, is that as this one is not filled with such a paucity of details per piece, i'm actually willing and wanting to work on it too, meaning the labor will go quicker, and seb and i can work on it together. aw ;)
