we've been robbed!

tonight, seb was post call and wanted to go out to eat. he didn't want to go right after getting home, so we popped in a dvd and watched it for about an hour before going. as we were getting into the car, i noticed that the garage felt particularly spacious, and then realized why... alot of our stuff was missing.

items stolen:
brand new circular saw, a christmas present from seb's dad
brand new paint sprayer, never even out of the shrink wrap
both of our power drills and their bits
my mouse sander
our jigsaw- which they took out of the box, and left the box
some gardening tools???
my beloved wrench set
my bike

our house wasn't broken in to, no, we were just naive enough to think it was safe to leave the garage door open while we were home. i guess some lessons are learned the hard way. i think it even happened as seb and i were watching the dvd. i remember solomon barking up a storm, and me telling him to shut up, because he barks up a storm at least once a day, due to anything from a car door slamming to some kids playing across the street.

the irony? the only thing i didn't care if i ever saw again was the bike. and that was the one thing they apparently couldn't haul away, and the police found it (without the seat) down the street.

the humor? seb was actually pissed that they didn't steal our weed-whacker. he must really hate that thing.

the bad news? it will take us hundreds of dollars to replace all this stuff.

the really bad news? feeling violated, having sense of security shattered

the really terrible bad news? seb is using the incident as a platform to lobby for another dog

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you were burgled. I bet Solomon would say "I told you so" if he could talk. It makes me want to pay more attention to my dogs' barking...

Not that it helps you in Hawaii, but Tony Jenkins is applying to be a police officer in Oregon right now. Maybe if he gets the job he can pull some strings with the Hawaii fuzz... I write this partly as comfort and partly as a heads-up. They asked Kyle for a reference, and the reference asked us to list two OTHER references, so we put you and Seb down for one of them. If they call you and he gets the job, then maybe he'll work on your case. :)

We miss you guys!
