time heals all wounds, but some slower than others

apparently my recovery is going to be so slow because i cut 2 tendons, and tendons take a long time to heal. and after my tendons are strong enough to get rid of my fabulous splint (they guess in 5 weeks), i'll have more work to do regaining my strength as the muscles will have atrophied from lack of use. woohoo! consider me your friendly neighborhood Public Service Announcement for kitchen safety. anyway, for the faint of stomach, you may want to look away, i have photos of my hand one day after surgery, and then one week after surgery:
pretty, huh? but my occupational therapists think it is healing very nicely, as it should, since i apparently was blessed enough to have one of the best (if not the best) hand surgeon the army has to offer. he trained most of the other hand surgeons currently serving. and though i am seriously not excited about getting my stitches out on friday, it has been more a source of aggravation than a source of pain.

and by the way, if recent photos posted seem a little blurry or crooked, or you notice more typos than usual, we have this little incident to blame.

i miss my hand!
