my mobile emitter

that's star trek humor, for those of you reading who are not total geeks like me.

anyway, i should be doing other things, but am afraid if i don't take the time to post now, i'll have forgotten later on all that has gone on. so here's today, in a very large nutshell:

1) caleb (he would be the mobile emitter, i promise, it will make sense) went on an eat-a-thon today, eating for 20 minutes and then half an hour or so later ready to fill up again. a good sign, and one i don't mind, even for the sake of my girls, as his 4 month appointment, and weigh-in, is friday and i want him as plump as possible. he's already on the way, check out the sweet double chin:

2) i realized while almost all of the long hair he had has fallen (or has been pulled) out, his peach fuzz is starting to fill in, as is also seen in the pic above.

3) the eat-a-thon contributed to one very serious diaper, which was serious enough to leak out the leg holes, and make such a mess on his onesie, that i soon realized there would be no way to take it off without covering him up to his head in poo. so what did i do? i grabbed the scissors and cut the onesie off. he has 3 times as many as he can wear in a week for his size, and it was a small sacrifice, considering the alternative.

4) he still won't really nap without being held, we spent about an hour and a half working towards one, he was very tired, but just could not pull it off.

5) he helped me cook some black beans and rice, a good healthy meal that seb won't touch but will make easy lunches for me. caleb supervised from his bumbo, watching my every move and apparently enthralled by my thoughts on how to best cut an onion.

6) for the third day in a row, he had a burst of laughter. apparently the trick is to get your face really close to his, or even bury it in his neck, shake your head, and go BOODABOODABOODABOODABOODA!

7) we looked out our landing window to see what there was to see, and found a triple rainbow, pictured below, look closely, there is a faint one above and to the left of the bold one, and immediately below the bold one, a thinner one snuggled up, spooning below it:

8) this sight, and fantastic weather (winter here is awesome, highs in the 70's) led to an early, hour long walk. we have lately been walking around 530-6 when cranky hour hits, it seems to really calm him down. but today i just wanted to enjoy the outdoors for it's own sake. so i strapped him in to the baby bjorn and headed out:

it is so fun to hear him making little excited exclamations and peek around to see that gummy little grin at all the sights he takes in. we have quite a great neighborhood for walking, some paths lead between houses that face each other, away from the roads, and from a hill very near our house you can see across the harbor towards Aiea and some hills. here are some pics we took on our walk:

9) he rolled over on to his tummy, twice. i am officially on alert, although, as he still hates tummy time and cannot really push himself up yet, i know we are still quite some time from anything like crawling.

10) i got a good dose of warm fuzzies when caleb decided that, among an abundance of toys, mommy's face was his favorite for tonight. he explored my face and threaded his hands through my hair for a good 10 minutes when no other toy would do.
