just in time... i hope

well, seb ordered us up a brand spankin' new computer on monday, and it should get here some time this weekend... i hope. sees that Word, the only real program i regularly NEED on this computer aside from internet access, has decided to go on strike. you click to open the program or a file, and it pops up the little advertisement window, and then.... stalls indefinitely, and freezes everything else, so you're left hitting CRTL-ALT-DELETE over and over until it restarts, or, if that doesn't work, just unplugging the thing. as long as i don't try to use word, it seems, it will remain just as minimally functional as it was before. i found this little treat out today, so i even have to leave early for school to use the computer labs to complete some stupid write-ups. wheeee! it's like college all over again, only i can't just walk downstairs to this computer lab in my jammies. hopefully, the new computer will give us a few good years before it starts to stink it up. it will be quite an upgrade though, from a 128MB ram to a 1GB ram, newer software, much more hard drive space, dual DVD write drives, a foppy drive that works (like we need it anyway) and more USB ports than you can shake a stick at. the really hard part will be restraining myself from smashing the old laptop to bits with a sledgehammer in a frenzied rage (i have violent tendiencies with inanimate objects) when the new desktop is up and running... we're gonna try to salvage it for whatever usefullness is left.

Have you run anti-spyware/adware and antivirus programs on your old computer? That may help eliminate slowness and (perhaps) even help with you Word problem. Running a firewall while on-line helps too, if you don't already do that.

Hello seb and jesse, I came across your site while doing a web search for Bluetooth Devices. Although your site isn't exactly what I was looking for I still enjoyed reading it. Have fun and keep up the good work!
