i've heard of hooked on phonics, but this is ridiculous.

since caleb can reliably sit up and manipulate things, i got out the last toy we had been given as a shower gift, which had until now seemed a little beyond his age. when i opened up the box to remove it, something fell out. at first i thought it was adhesive foam, maybe some assembly was required.

upon closer inspection, i realized it was something else entirely. something really, really, really beyond his age. something i in fact hope he will never have the need to have.

it was nicotine gum.

now i'm in favor of caleb loving learning as much as the next mom, but i'm just not sure this is the way to go on this one.

so, while i may not be able to remember exactly who gave this gift to us, that may just work out best for the both of us ;).
