seb and i, in an attempt to not neglect the opportunities available through living in hawaii, decided to try to head to the beach once a week. well, we headed out yesterday, after fighting about something really stupid (over him wanting to take cheese to eat on our mini-picnic and me wanting to save it for a meal i was planning this week.. i told you it was stupid) and making up.
we go to the beach, one we don't usually go to, and are actually turned away because the parking lot is full. we head somewhere else, spot someone having road trouble, and stop to help them. they have the spare but not the jack, but our jack is to big (for the jeep) and won't even fit together under their car.
feeling useless, we head on to another beach, one we've been to before but somehow can't find. we give up looking and stop at another little strip of beach we passed by, and get out all our gear. the water here is too rough and current-filled for us to really do anything in, but we decide to just lay and relax and read. we're there less than 10 minutes, when it starts sprinkling which quickly turns into hard rain. i'm on the phone, covered with a towel, getting totally drenched, and when i am able to get off the phone and look up, seb is shivering under the raised back hatch of the jeep, but he left almost everything on the beach with me.
by the time we get home it isn't raining anymore. i drag soaked mats and towels from the car, rinse them, and go to open the jeep's windows so the soaked seats can dry out. i guess being dripping wet and covered in sand distracted me, because this morning i found out i had left the keys in the car, turned slightly (just enough to operate the windows) and now the battery is dead.
guess we should have gone to the beach on saturday instead.
