2011 in photoreview: january

Since we mailed the christmas letter today (jan 4th, in case you didn't notice, i think from here on out we'll have to call it the 'whenever we manage to get around to it letter') in which we instruct everyone to go check our blog for updates... i guess now would be a good time to update it.

and since i'm not very creative an no one has ever accused me of possessing any writing abilities, here comes the photo onslaught.

when i went through our iphoto stash for the year, i flagged 216 photos i wanted to include in my 'update' efforts and quickly decided this was not going to be one long post.

so here's january, 2011:

noah figured out that putting anything on his head elicited a laugh,
but did not figure out how to do it on command so momma could actually get a shot of it.

we made early attempts at self-feeding.
i was not really eager to do this but knew it was time,
so i gritted my teeth and pulled out the extra washcloths.

he tried out a few new hairstyles, with the help of that yogurt

and discovered the art and joy of mooching. he would leave his own food, insisting he could not take another bite, then saunter over to aunty (he knew she was a sucker) climb up into her chair and sort of just stare longingly into her bowl.
i think this is one of my earliest shots of him with his smug
'this is just too easy' looks that i now see every day of my life.

caleb enjoyed the second christmas he got when yaya and pawpaw came for a visit. he did not enjoy the miserably styled haircut i tried giving him with our clippers. we switched to scissors after that.

and spent some quality time with aunty charlotte and youtube.
as a reminder, seb was still deployed for the first half of 2011, and
his sister charlotte was living with us to help us out and
enjoy my cooking/cleaning/grocery shopping skills.
wasn't that nice of her?

just kidding. she really did help a lot and made sure the kids got infinitely more attention than they would have gotten if it had been just me. and she's a pediatrician, so whenever the kids got sick i had my own doc in house. i love this picture because whenever she has a question she wants to answer she needs to discover the answer NOW and what better way than to have two computers at the ready?

noah got his first real chance to play in some snow.
here he is a little uncertain, i think i was tipping him back a bit to far for his liking.

he decided it was good stuff after all, even though momma made him
wrap up so thickly he could barely walk. and by the way, if your
toddler won't keep gloves on, just stretch those long kid socks way up
over their sleeves past their elbows and they won't stand a chance.

see, wasn't that exciting! can you believe i deprived you all of such riveting details for this long?

no?

well, we've got 11 more months to go, so let's not give up hope just yet ;)
