and two years later, noah in the same onesie. it's hard to tell since they're both small in it, but noah is definitely filling it out better than caleb did. despite being born almost a full pound lighter than his brother, noah quickly jumped up to the 15th percentile and has stayed there, whereas caleb made an astounding leap from 3rd to 5th percentile at his 2 year checkup.
he got stuffed into gift boxes so we could attempt another cute holiday photo
after christmas we traveled again to see yaya, papa, and decided to take up drumming
he turned 4 months
he turned 5 months, which apparently went by without more than 4 pictures, probably because this was about the time he decided he needed constant attention
and he tried to charm caleb into thinking he was his new best friend, not his arch-enemy. i believe when i took this picture, caleb was telling noah, "go 'way!" despite the fact that noah was sitting there first and caleb climbed up next to him.
he learned to roll over! both ways!
and today... he turned 6 months! and again without many pictures, which might not be remedied until he starts sitting and crawling and i get my hands freed up a bit. but for today, i tried my best.
he stared at mommy in utter disbelief when she handed him his first rice rusk. he's been desperate to get his hands on our 'big people food' for a long time
so yeah, he's still alive, and i look at his pictures from his first week, and i think, he is so different, and he is so much the same. and he's so different than the baby i expected, because i so, so naively thought he would be caleb 2.0 despite my rational knowledge otherwise. he's bigger, more mobile, and more talkative than caleb was, and oh do i have to be careful not to vocalize that in front of caleb.
caleb is not so smitten with baby brother anymore. i'm sure he does love him, he can be gentle, and he asks 'where's noah?' and wants noah to come along for all we do, but that doesn't stop him from telling him 'go away' or snatching toys or insisting that noah should not grow up but needs to stay little. he definitely feels all the attention he no longer gets from mommy because someone else is getting it instead. that being said, noah LOVES to watch caleb in action and i have no doubt that as soon as his little body will let him he will be following his big brother around every minute.
at six months old, he still doesn't seem to have read the section of the baby sleep habits book that says he should be taking fewer, longer naps by now.... all i can get out of him are 30 minute little cat naps which is just enough time to get lunch ready so i can not eat it for another hour or so. or get elbow deep in the raw chicken i was trying to prep for dinner.
really the only problem we're having with noah at present is that he thinks momma is a fast food restaurant and he can eat his meals while playing and taking in the scenery, whereas momma insists (quite emphatically) that she is strictly a DINE IN ONLY establishment and he needs to remain still until his dinner is done. also? momma is not the largest teething ring ever. that is what teething rings are for. and now that he can hold on to one longer than it takes to bash his eye with it, he really needs to use one. the poor kid has been teething (or acting like he's teething ) since he hit three months, and i really hope for both our sakes he has a tooth or two to show for it soon.
happy six months, noah-bug! one nuzzle in your sweet, chubby little neck and all is forgiven! love you!
