8 months down, 1 to go

sorry, no pictures again for this one, though soon i plan to take house pictures to post.

this past weekend caleb went on his longest road trip ever and in contrast to his plane ride to the mainland - he was AMAZING. honestly i could not have asked for him to have done any better than he did, he spent the first 3rd of our trip up to my folks' content just to point out all the 'bih twuts' (big trucks) we saw along the way. he napped, he read books, he watched 'milo and otis' and 'baby signing time,' and though he occasionally asked to get 'out' he seemed to accept that that request had to be temporarily denied. we only had to stop twice, and then a bite to eat and walking around and seeing all the big trucks was enough to tide him over. he was FANTASTIC.

The way back home he was only slightly fussy a couple of times, but then he did not have the promise of yaya and paw-paw and doggies and kitties to keep up his spirits.

the trip itself was busy and short but good, i enjoyed all of the party preparations and getting to spend time with my family and meet some of megan's, however brief and hectic the time was.

caleb had as much fun as he usually has at my parents' house and yaya and paw-paw really enjoyed caleb's expanding vocabulary.  he speaks more than signs these days paw-paw loved hearing rather than seeing caleb address him. he even talked to the dogs - i caught him (without my camera, to great dismay) sitting down and talking seriously to one of the dogs, chattering and saying 'yeah' and nodding, and then going on to tell the dog 'see, oppy, ass.  yeah!'  and no, this is not my son's first swear word, this was him telling the dog about seeing the bunny (hoppy) in the GRass the day before. the dog was unimpressed but i loved it.

and now that we are back, i told seb i am officially going into nesting mode. he said he thought that's what i'd been doing all along. i told him that was called UNPACKING and would have had to be done baby  or no. but now it is really crackdown time, making sure there are newborn diapers in the house, that the carseat cover gets washed, that the room, clothes, and bedding are ready to go, and that any pesky tasks left unfinished get finished before the baby comes and nothing gets done for quite a while.

there's not that much, but it is all the boring tedious stuff that is easy to put off until tomorrow, or the day after, or the week after that. and my energy is not what it was even a couple of weeks ago. i really don't want noah to come early but i've finally reached that point where i'm ready to not feel occupied.

or as caleb says, 'baby OUT!'
