no, he's not a premie

i think i should start wearing this on a sign around my neck for the next month or so. so far everywhere i take caleb, everyone asks me if he was/is a premature baby. i personally don't think that 6.5 lbs is so astoundingly low for a birth weight, but apparently in hawaii, it is. i usually just tell people, well, his dad is only 115, and they leave me alone, and i know he's doing well, but it gets that little paranoid voice going that says 'he's not growing enough' or 'he's not getting enough food.' i wish people would just say 'oh what a cute baby' and leave it at that.

he is doing great though, he is really smiling responsively now, and seems to like getting squoked (a.k.a. a raspberry or a zerbert) on his cheek. and yes i know that is bad grammar, and i don't care. and his head control and hand-eye coordination are getting better, he is reaching purposefully and tracking objects when we move them around. and thanks again to the faulty alarm, last night he (and i) got seven hours of sleep in a row. now, to those of you who may be concerned, no, that is not something i plan to try to duplicate, i have a new alarm planned out to make sure he gets the night feedings he needs, at least until 3 months or so.

we should be getting a new camera soon that is easier to keep on hand than our camcorder, and as soon as we do, we'll try to get some pics up him smiling in action

You know...you could think about ordering a onesie that says NO, I AM NOT A PREEMIE. People would ask me the same thing of my 7lb 15 oz baby...
