not much has changed in a year and nine months except a little bit of everything

so i had completely stopped writing anything here, mostly because i didn't think anyone was reading it (which i still believe was the case). my brother (who has recently decided that keeping in touch with family = worthwhile) told me he read something and posted a comment... so i checked it... and discovered to my horror that in the very long time my blog had been neglected by me it had not been neglected by blog spammers to had turned my very innocent little blog into a cornucopia of very sexually explicit blog comments with fantastically pornographic links to go along with them. needless to say i spent quite some time deleting those... and hope to keep the blog clean and family friendly from now on... and to find out how to block blog spam (didn't even know it existed before.)

so, here are the minor details of our lives since jan '06:
-started part time advocate (case manager) work at the domestic violence shelter april 06
-started working that job full time the following september
-seb still finishing residency, 3 yrs down, 2 to go
-hawaii is still hotter than missouri in winter but plenty cooler in summer
-got pregnant late december 06
-finished my last day of work yesterday to have the next month to get ready and rested for baby caleb who should be getting here sept. 29, give or take a couple days (we hope)
-had great visits from family and friends (btw, those of you who had not yet taken us up on the offer of a trip to hawaii with free room and board, the offer is still there, but the bed will be smaller and the house a little fuller and in all likelihood, noisier)
-continued to develop new friendships and deepen others; we have been very blessed in the friends department here in hawaii

so, obviously, a fairly brief update, but it covers most of the essentials. now that there is a bambino on the way, of course, there will be added motivation to keep the blog up to date (and hopefully more motivation for people to read it, even if it does just include close family) and i'll have to become techno-savvy enough to get some pictures loaded at some point, either here or at another site.
