long time no type

so, i had pretty much given this blog up for dead, forgotten about, and completely unread except for by someone i talked to fairly regularly anyway... so i was just going to let it go wherever blogs go when they die. but, i was told today, someone actually read it recently that i wasn't banking on, so, what the heck, if for nothing else, it will let me look back at my own life later on.

things have been pretty good around here... it's winter, definitely my favorite season for living in hawaii.... warm in the day still but nice and cool and breezy at night, almost makes me want a fireplace. i have home to see my family, which was definitely wonderful, and got to see some good friends along the way as well. i've been working at the dv shelter for a few months now, and am apparently just weeks away from being promoted to an advocate position (somewhat similar to case work). it will be part time to start with, but i may work some regular shelter worker shifts as well (what i'm doing now,) and may eventually full time advocate work as the current full time advocate is leaving in june. i'm excited, but as with any new job, humbled by the huge amount of things i have still to learn, and anxious to learn them. but i love where i work, and i love the work i have been able to do... even when it feels like you just want to run away and cry.

seb has been working very hard, harder than i had expected given this is his second year here, but he was fortunate to have a clinic rotation this past month, and since they were closed for a week and a half for the holidays, he got that time off too, without having to use up actual vacation time. we had alot of home improvement irons in the fire though, so we did very little actual vacationing, and i worked all the christmas/new years shifts no one else wanted to work, so there wasn't much of a party. we got one of those wonderful homedics shiatsu back massagers though from my folks... absolutely splendid, seb liked the fawlty towers dvds i got him, and i really loved the new kitchen faucet he got me... i know it sounds pathetically domesticated but i'd been wanting it for ages.

nothing else really going on, just missing fam and friends, esp around the holidays, and hoping everyone is doing well.
