back in the saddle....

of actual employment, that is. yes, i was called today (took long enough) and officially offered the position of Shelter Worker. woohoo! yes, i know, it doesn't sound very exciting, working in a domestic violence shelter (aside from perhaps in a frightening way) and it doesn't pay much (4 dollars/hr less than my last job) and i'm the floater/on call so there's no guaranteed amount of hours i'll get (though they're extremely short staffed so i'm expecting quite at few at first) and i'm sure i'll be vomited on at least once (let's hope that's the worst i can imagine happening to me) but it's work, darnit, and what's more important.... what's really the only thing to me that's important, is that it the work itself is important, it means something to me to be helping people who really need help, in however small of a capacity that may be.

i have a training all day this saturday, next saturday, and half of a saturday after that, and i'm really looking forward to it, as well as getting to know the people i'll be working with. if you've got any spare prayers laying around, send some my way, i'm sure i'm going to need them.

i can't wait to hear all about it. a women's shelter is a very worthwhile place to work, and with your sweet nature, i know you'll do some good.
