but tonight he really earned his commission (assuming someone buys and we can give him one!)
there was a family that wanted to come see the house tonight (i had about 2 hours notice) and since our realtor is also good at being protective of Caleb's routine (more so at times than i would be) he said we could just stay home and just kind of stay out of the way.
the people coming by were late, and i wondered if i'd gotten the night wrong, so after giving them an extra 15 minutes past 7pm i put caleb in the bath. naturally, just like anyone else who rings my doorbell, that was when they decided to show up. they came, they ooh and aaahed (yay us) and then they saw themselves out. i put caleb to bed, and that is when it happened.
i went into the garage, opened the garage door to put the dog back in the backyard. i went out through the garage door, got the mail, closed the garage door with the remote in the car, locked the car. put the dog in the back and locked the gate. went to go inside through my open front door.
except it wasn't open. i hadn't expected them to lock the door on the way out. i'm sure it was the responsible, protective thing to do. it just was not the most convenient help i'd ever gotten.
i didn't have my keys. i did have a lockbox, my cell phone, and my realtor's cell phone number. being the very nice and cooperative man that he is, he logged on to give me the code to let myself back into my house and my sleeping baby.
nice to know the backup is there when i needed it, but this is one mistake i do not plan to make again!
